Our Building Process

From custom homes and sprawling acreages to functional garages and workshops, trust High Country Builders to bring your vision to reality.

Our Process

We believe that the home-building process should be easy and transparent. Our approach is straightforward: clear communication, honesty, and working with the very best. We take pride in the outstanding work of every individual and trade involved in creating our homes. From cozy cabins to sprawling estate homes, we are proud of every home we build.

Let’s Meet

The biggest question most people have when building their home is: where do we start? The answer is simple—begin by talking to us.

Whether it’s a phone call or a coffee meeting, our initial, no-obligation conversation will focus on gathering key details about your vision. We’ll discuss your home’s basic features, unique elements, build site, and utility availability. This information helps us provide an accurate budget and get a clear understanding of the home you envision.

Design & Quote

Next comes the exciting part: the design phase. You’ll sit down with us and our skilled drafter to start creating the plans for your project. During this stage, we’ll offer our expert advice to help you achieve your goals within your budget and share insights drawn from years of building experience. A small design deposit is required at this point, but if you choose to build with us, this deposit will be applied to the final price of your home.

Once the design is finalized, we’ll reach out to our trade partners for firm pricing. We will then provide you with a final price and contract for your approval. After signing the contract and confirming financing, we can proceed with pre-construction activities.

Pre-Construction

Once the contract is signed, we’ll start the necessary pre-construction activities, including submitting permits, securing project insurance, registering for the Alberta New Home Warranty, and obtaining architectural approvals.

Additionally, we will accompany you during meetings with various vendors to select interior and exterior finishes.

Construction

Once the permits are approved, we’ll schedule stakeout and excavation, and then construction will commence. Over the several months your dream home will start to take shape.

Possession Day

Once your new home is complete, we’ll hand over the keys and officially transfer ownership. On this exciting day, you’ll get to explore every corner of your new space, and it will become legally yours. We’ll also provide a thorough walkthrough to ensure everything meets your expectations. Welcome to your new home!

Service & Warranty

We believe that ensuring your new home meets our high standards is as important as every other stage of the process. We will promptly return to address any challenges you may encounter with your High Country Home.
